Kimbo's storyThe mission to level-up UK heating
The mission to level-up UK heating

Learning the hard way
For years, engineers who wanted to understand system design have had to learn it the hard way: private study, trial and error, peer-to-peer learning.
There was no clear, structured route to developing these essential skills and nothing in mainstream training that properly covered hydronics for heating engineers.
Kimbo Betty
Kimbo was one of the early heating engineers who battled to get to the bottom of it all.
A chartered electrical engineer before moving into heating, Kimbo never accepted “this is the way we’ve always done it” as an answer. He wanted to understand why and what is actually happening in the system.
After an unsuccessful attempt at retirement, and with a talent for simplifying complex topics, he began training engineers from his converted garage, later expanding to venues across the UK.
“You don’t realise how much you don’t know until someone shows you a better way.” — Kimbo Betty
The demand was always there
Kimbo’s teaching spread quickly through word of mouth, tapping into a demand that was already there but largely unserved.
Many heating engineers wanted to improve, they just didn’t have a clear way to do it.
As demand outstripped what one person could deliver, so the question for Kimbo became: how do I make these skills accessible to everyone?
Opening it up to every engineer
Kimbo teamed up with Warmur and a leading learning expert to turn his engaging training style it into a programme that could reach every heating engineer.
The brief: to stay true to what made his training so valuable: complex topics made simple, practical application and whole-system thinking, while utilising proven learning methods to make the knowledge stick.
The result is our 10-step process to Good Hydronic Design. A practical tool that turns the best of Kimbo’s training into a repeatable way to design any system.
Hydronics Unlocked - the evolution
Hydronics Unlocked is how we bring Kimbo to everyone without compromising on the Kimbo experience. In fact, it's designed to improve knowledge retention and ongoing skills development through the 10-step process.
The in-person course is now taught by top heating engineers across the UK, so you get a day with an expert plus a structured process you can continue to use.
The online course is all Kimbo's fun methods, but on steroids. Using interactive tools and simulations, you learn each of the 10 steps in detail and in a timeframe that works for you.
Kimbo’s mission is your opportunity
Decades of experience, boiled down into a clear 10-step method you can use on every job.
